Kate Murray broke the career homeruns record and Fishers Varsity Tigers won big over New Palestine Varsity Dragons 10-4 on Wednesday. Fishers Varsity Tigers opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two singles. Fishers Varsity Tigers first got on the board when Adrianne Cook singled, scoring one run. Payton Dye singled to center field, which helped New Palestine Varsity Dragons tie the game at two in the top of the third. In the bottom of the third, Fishers Varsity Tigers broke up the tie when Anna McGrath singled, scoring one run. Then a home run to center field by Brooke Clayton followed to extend the lead to 6-2. Kate Murray homered to center field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth for the Fishers Varsity Tigers. Kate Murray earned the win for Fishers Varsity Tigers. The starter surrendered seven hits and four runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out three and walking three. Sadey Hughbanks took the loss for New Palestine Varsity Dragons. The pitcher went six innings, allowing 10 runs on 14 hits, striking out five and walking two. Fishers Varsity Tigers collected 14 hits in the game. Brooke Clayton led Fishers Varsity Tigers with three runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The left-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Cate Summerfield and Adrianne Cook each collected three hits for Fishers Varsity Tigers. Kate Murray collected two hits for Fishers Varsity Tigers in four at bats. Fishers Varsity Tigers turned one double play in the game. Katie Hirschy and Maddie Engle were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for New Palestine Varsity Dragons while hitting back-to-back. Callie Cromwell, Kenna Tweedy, Payton Dye, and Maddie Engle each drove in one run for New Palestine Varsity Dragons. New Palestine Varsity Dragons were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error.
