Tigers Varsity Baseball Completes Sweep of Royals

The #2 Fishers Tigers Varsity Baseball Team (14-2/8-0) completed the sweep of crosstown rival Southeastern Royals with a 6-1 victory at home. Starting pitcher Hayden Werner (3-0) was outstanding in his complete game victory. Werner’s only blemish was a solo homerun in the 2nd. Werner pounded the strike zone with 71% strikes. He allowed only 5 hits, struck out 8 and did not allow any free bases. The Tigers scored 2 runs in the 1st, 2 in the 3rd, and 2 more in the 5th. Luke Cherry delivered an RBI single to right to drive in the first run, Huston Dunn who had doubled. Zander Carnahan also scored from 3rd after an errant pickoff attempt at 1st. Deagan Repp led off the 3rd with an infield single off the glove of a diving shortstop. Repp would score when Carnahan reached on an error by the centerfielder. Carnahan scored his 2nd run of the night on Jase Ruggles RBI sacrifice fly. In the 5th Trevor Hall scored Dunn with an RBI groundout. Dunn was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Carnahan scored his 3rd run of the game on Mayo Fernandez’s RBI single to right. Dunn was 2-2 with 2 doubles, a walk, a hit by pitch, and 2 runs scored. Fernandez was 2-3 with a double and an RBI. Carnahan finished the game 1-3 with a walk and 3 runs scored. Cherry added an RBI single, and Hall and Ruggles each contributed an RBI. The Tigers return to action on Saturday with a split doubleheader. The Tigers will play at Lawrence North at 10am before traveling to Lafayette Harrison for a night game at 6pm.
